Snowblind

For some reason, art relating to drugs never gets old, especially when it comes to cocaine. There's just something about that white powder that continues to fascinate me, except the actual powder that is.

If you haven't checked out Other Criteria, the website and recently opened store (36 Bond Street, London) owned by Damien Hirst, do so now. There are some really hot editions and prints that I'd love to own, including a customized version of Snowblind: A brief career in the cocaine trade, a semi-autobiographical novel about the life of Zacharie Swan written by American author Robert Sabbag in 1976.

In 1999, Hirst teamed up with Sabbag and convicted drug dealer Howard Marks -- who wrote the intro -- and designed a repackaged version of the book limited to 1000 copies with sleeve, reinforced mirror hard backed cover, imitation credit card, (in the name of Zachary Swan), and a rolled up $100 bill hidden in a cut away trench in the middle of the book. All three conspirators, Sabbag, Marks and Hirst hand signed all 1000.

Check it out on Other Criteria. It's a Flash site, so I can't direct link you. Go to Editions and find the mirrored book.
