Rosemary's Baby + Wild Style @ Film Forum

When times get tough, the tough go to the movies!

With the craziness going on in the world right now, I think it's time to hark back to more simple days. Days when having a possessed baby could be scary.

Film Forum's showing Roman Polanski's Rosemary's Baby for 1 week beginning 10.31 and running through 11.06.08. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the classic horror flick that stars a very young Mia Farrow and the one and only John Cassavettes.

"Despite their fab new Upper West Side apartment in the venerable Dakota, nice kid Mia Farrow's career-obsessed actor husband John Cassavetes is still looking for that big break. But then a Broadway lead looms when the star mysteriously goes blind, and Farrow gets in the family way after an evening of wild love-making — but wait...was that hubby, or some sort of horned beast?" Read the full synopsis and get show times here. Don't forget to checkout this 2003 NY Times review of the film and get your tickets online now!

Next up we're going back to New York during the down and out late 70's and early 80's. The New York that everyone who moved here more than 10 years ago wishes hadn't disappeared completely with the influx of the post 9/11 Sex In The City and Friends transplants.

On the 25th Anniversary of this film's theatrical release and in conjunction with the release of a book by powerHouse, Film Forum will show Charlie Ahern's classic Wild Style beginning 11.14 and running through 11.20.08

"In 1982, Charlie Ahearn wrote, directed, and produced a small, independent movie that released a year later. Wild Style, the first film to unite the underground urban art forms of nascent hip hop culture—DJing, MCing, b-boying, and graff writing—was filmed on location in the South Bronx without permits or pretensions. Some twenty-five years after its release, Wild Style is truly a classic, having inspired countless artists, musicians, and writers with unforgettable scenes starring the era's most memorable personalities."

Get more info here on the film and showtimes. It's playing every night at 10pm only. Ahearn will make an appearance two nights to answer questions and sign books. Don't forget to checkout the book -- Wild Style: The Sampler.

See you at the movies!
