| Shipley & Halmos @ Den It's that time again folks: Odin's rotating flagship store Den is set to change the guards yet again. Out goes Engineered Garments General Store. In comes Shipley & Halmos. "Former members of the successful Trovata label, Jeff Halmos and Sam Shipley for which the brand is named, debut in Spring 2008. The two designers endeavor to combine simplicity and quality in the collection, with a focus on fit, materials, and accessibility rather than mere trends. In May 2008, Shipley & Halmos received the inaugural Young Designer Award from the National Arts Club." "The concept of the store reflects the fall and winter 09 S&H pesentation. Inspired by the 1920 German expressionist silent film, The Cabinet of D. Caligari, the space is minimally dressed, except for the distorted checkered board floor and the video projection of Shipley & Halmos' animation short. A suspended open doorway allows one to enter into the dreamstate-like space consisting of stacked white books and scattered white chairs." With both men's and women's lines, there's something for everyone. The Shipley & Halmos store is open for business now through the end of November, just in time for some holiday shopping. While you're in the neigborhood, make sure to stop by Odin's newly-opened women's shop Pas de Deux. Shipley & Halmos @ Den 330 E. 11th St. 212-475-0079 Pas de Deux 328 E. 11th St. 212-475-0666
