| Natalia Brilli, Take 2 Let it be known: I'm obsessed with Natalia Brilli. Her latest work has just arrived at chic Montreal boutique Reborn -- who are now doing e-commerce -- and it's sick. Check out images here. Avid readers will remember I covered Brilli back in July after stopping by Project No 8 on the way home from Bacaro. Check that piece out here. Her work has definitely progessed since that time. I'm sure you'll be as taken as I am. "Born in Belgium, Natalia Brilli studied at the prestigous Cambre school in Brussels. Designer of artfully sculptural jewelry, bags, and other accessories and objects, Natalia is well known for her amazing luxury use of leather as sculpture. After three years of serving Rochas as head accessories designer with Olivier Theyskens, she decided to start her own brand in 2005." Read her full bio here. All of her pieces are made using 100% lamb leather, all black this time around. Like gold, the leather transforms every day objects into something completely new. The all black palette adds yet another dimension: dark and brooding. It's very Rick Owens-esque: gothic glamour with an other wordly quality. The idea is something that nobody else has done to my knowledge and fits into the category of work that I love so much: so simple, yet so genius. If Rick Owens were smart, he's already working with Brilli on a line of accessories. Let's just hope any designer who also recognizes Brilli's genius opts to collaborate with her instead of being "influenced" by her work and biting the idea. And if anyone's wondering what to get me for Christmas, the Credit Wallet is on my wish list. I know it's a bit indulgent in these tough times, but I'm willing to live with the guilt. Trust me on that one.
