Agape + Vieques Steel Tub

I'm sure not many of you know this, but I live in an old-school, unrenovated East Village cold water tenement building. At least that's what I've heard it called. What does that mean? It means I have to walk up four flights of stairs and my bathtub is in the kitchen. Unlike my neighbors, though, I've converted mine into a shower, as I've never been a big fan of taking baths.

While it may be sexy in movies, let's just say the tub is ugly at best. I've been saying forever that if you have a really hot tub, you can pull off having one in your kitchen. I just found a tub that (with new floors, of course) would make my kitchen/bathroom situation something to be envied.

Ladies and gentlemen: the Vieques Steel Tub by Italian designer Patricia Urquiola for Agape. "Steel tub, with white finish on the inside and dark grey finish on the outside, can be complemented by a teak shelf and backrest. A contemporary restyling of the old-fashioned bath tub, for a decidedly unconventional environment." I want it so bad I can't deal. Rarely am I into tubs and bathroom items, but this stuff is insanity.

After looking to see who the US dealers are, it dawned on me where I've seen this line before: Moss. Why am I not surprised? Of course bathtubs that could double as minimal art are sold at Moss!

Checkout Agape's site. They have amazing tubs, showers, mirrors, cabinets, and various accesories and other bathroom items, including the Woodline tub, which wouldn't look as hot in my apartment as the Steel Tub, but is gorgeous and has an interior molded like a chaise lounge. Can we say relaxing?

"Innovation, research, coherence, new materials and flexible solutions have been the key concepts of Agape's business philosophy since it was established in 1973. The company's mission is to make the bathroom a more comfortable and aesthetically stimulating space by rethinking conventional typologies."

When I strike it rich, I know where I'm going to outfit my bathroom, or my bathroom/kitchen, as with the ups and downs of the economy, money or not, I'm not giving up this apartment any time soon.
