| Helmut Lang Downloadable Art By now you've heard of the Helmut Lang / Absolut online collaborative art project ALLES GLEICH SCHWER. If not, click here for my original post and here to access the official site. ABSOLUT vodka is proud to launch a radical medium to view and experience art, as a new online virtual gallery goes live, showcasing Helmut Lang's Alles Gleich Schwer. This, a bold new exhibition of artworks, will be brought to a global audience as part of the artist's vision of an ABSOLUT WORLD, eradicating traditional barriers between viewer and art, consumer and gallery – accessible to all for a three month period. You can read the official press release here. There are many more images up than I noticed the first time around, some of which are pretty incredible. A few of my favorites: NEXT EVER AFTER (2007), LIFE FORMS (2008), and THREE (2008), which I have to say are some of the hottest things I've seen in a while. The fact that they're made out of tree stumps, which I normally would frown upon, and he manages to make them menancing and dark is quite a feat. Check out a full range of images and videos here. I'm sure you'll be equally impressed. It's not every designer who can successfully pull of making art and do it so well. What you don't know is that as part of the exhibit there are now downloadable posters from the show that you can print off yourself for FREE!! Each numbered download has your unique specs (date, time, city and IP address) on the top and can be reproduced at 24" x 36". Go to the site and click the "Download" link in the top navigation. From there, you will be shown a link to download the image and a link explaining how it works. The first in the series is available now and others will be uploaded in the coming weeks. Keep your eyes peeled. |
