| Introducing: Michel Berandi A friend tipped me off to a new line of mens and womenswear by LA designer Michel Berandi that I think is hot hot hot. I have to say, though, the collection looks a little like fellow LA designer Rick Owens, which isn't a bad thing, but worth noting. "An amalgamation of gothic, biker, ninja, and punk rock aesthetics define this collection of luxurious leather and textile creations." Think black: black black black and one or two pieces of gray. And lots of gorgeous leather. Called goth by WWD and a dramatic fusion of grunge and gothic glamour by Jason Campbell, the line is sure to be a hit with the hipsters. Check out Berandi's site to see for yourself. There are lots of pics of the collection: look book style, as well as runway shots and backstage pics from his last show. There's also a list of stockists where you can find the line, including AMALGA (New York), Isetan (Tokyo), Harvey Nichols (Hong Kong), and, of course, Maxfield (LA). Berandi designs a second line called MB999, which sports more reasonable price points, and can be found at Oak in New York and Roden Gray in Vancouver. Check it out. I think you'll like it. All I have to say is any designer who has a song by Throbbing Gristle and one by Suicide on his site's soundtrack is a friend of mine! Check out the pics below.
