| Keiichi Nitta + Go Gallery Japanese photograph and former Terry Richardson assistant Keiichi Nitta is mounting his first solo show -- Everyday Is Like Sunday -- at Go Gallery in Milan. The show opens 06.25 and runs through 07.15.08. A book of the same name in an edition of 500 will be released simultaneously, the first publication of Go Books. "Everyday Is Like Sunday presents a new form of photographic expression, in an era where photography is perceived to have reached its critical point of expression in the wake of trials and errors of countless photographers. Everything is possible for a photographer that, beyond portraying his subjects, unashamedly exposed himself. The photographer's chaotic gaze spirals into the abyss, where lies the endless potential of a blackhole." Read the full press release here. It includes a piece by Vice Japan editor Tomokazu Kosuga entitled TO BE A CLOWN BEFORE BEING A PHOTOGRAPHER. "Before being a photographer, Keiichi Nitta is first and foremost a true jester. Not in the sense of clowning about as a way of making his models more relaxed, but he is literally a clown by nature. He willingly strips off his clothes to lighten the atmosphere around him, and deliberately acts in ways that make people laugh. In this light, it can be said that he is an unusual presence among photographers today." And don't forget to watch Morrissey's Everyday Is Like Sunday video. Since it is Sunday and all. |
