| Guerilla Drive-In What do you get when you combine a 1977 BMW motorcycle with a sidecar and an oldschool movie projector? Guerilla Drive-In, of course. It's the latest in a series of ingenious projects by mad scientist and ex New Yorker John Young. There's only one catch: he now lives in Westchester, PA. Not a catch if you live there too. Just for everyone else like me. "Movies are shown in glorious 16MM film, projected by a clattery old Eiki classroom projector, transported in my 1977 BMW sidecar rig (that's purely for panache.) Ideally, the movies are shown in appropriate locations -- Repo Man in a junkyard, Caddyshack at... well, you get the idea. In order to get notifications with the title and location, you'll need to be on the members' list. In order to get on the members' list, you'll need an access code. In order to get the access code, you'll need to find the MacGuffin." Read more and get a list of movies an dates here. Make sure to go here to find out how to get the insider details. John's known for added that extra little twist to all of his projects to make sure you really have to work for it. I've asked him to bring Guerilla Drive-In to New York for an East Village viewing and am awaiting some good news. Don't forget to checkout another of his killer projects: Nerdlepoint. "I made a needlepoint pillow top on 13-count mono canvas containing the 2D barcode for pillow at Semapedia. It's a pillow, and it says pillow in the machine-readable code, but you can't read that code unless you have a cameraphone or a frickin' laser beam. So it's pretty nerdy." Nerdy? Yes. Ingenious? Very.
