Rick Owens + SHOWstudio SHOWstudio just shot the ever elusive Mr Owens, which I'm guessing will post on their site sometime shortly. In the meantime, they've posted a video highlighting said shoot with footage of the designer giving his take on the relationship between fashion and men and fashion and women, which is perfectly put and gives much-needed insight into the workings behind his mens' collection. Nick Knight's latest shoot with Rick Owens may have finished, but as the SHOWstudio cameras were rolling throughout the day, not a moment went unrecorded. They've sliced, spliced and edited the day's footage into a two-minute short showcasing highlights of the action on set, with Rick's own voice as fitting soundtrack. This film is a sneak preview in every sense of the term, premiering Nick's vision of Rick, the aesthetic of the fashion film currently in production with Ruth Hogben and a snippet from our own film of an exclusive interview with Rick. Both fashion shorts will feature on SHOWstudio later this year, coinciding with the launch of Arena Homme Plus' Winter issue. Check it out here The designer's Fall/Winter 2009 men's collection just showed in Paris and, as always, it's sick sick sick. While I could never work the look head to toe, the jackets are amazing and some of the shirts are spot on. Says WWD: For anyone still unsure if Goth can be chic, Paris-based, Los Angeles designer Rock Owens removed all doubt at his first men's runway show, which was more grand than gloomy. Strip out the floor-length knit dress and the short skirts layered over harem pants and what stood out was great outerwear, such as a boiled wool pea coat with an oversized hood and a lengthy "opera" jacket with bold shoulders. "There's something very poignant about austerity," said Owens of his clean and mean collection. Check out the pics here. |
