One of the hottest indie bands on the scene at the moment -- Animal Collective -- are playing Terminal 5 on 05.13.09. Tickets go on sale Friday 01.23.09 at noon.

After a few months hiatus, I just started listening to Animal Collective (and side project spinoff band Panda Bear) and am psyched to see them live, as I got to All Points East just a bit too late to catch them there.

If you're unfamiliar with the band: Animal Collective is a music collective of avant-garde musicians from Baltimore consisting of Avey Tare (David Portner), Panda Bear (Noah Lennox), Deakin (Josh Dibb), and Geologist (Brian Weitz). Records released under the name Animal Collective may include contributions from any or all of these members; the lineup is not uniform. Although the band is often classified as psych folk or noise rock, it is hard to define the Animal Collective sound as they often experiment with diverse styles and ideas from album to album.

I wouldn't exactly recommend this for pop music lovers, but if you like amazing music that borders on art, give them a listen. Check out their official site to start. Can we say cryptic?
