I burn through music so fast, sometimes it's hard for even me to keep up. One of the bands that I'm particulary impressed with at the moment is an indie folk band from Austin named Okkervil River.

Following a typical pattern for me and certain bands, I liked them okay on the first few listens, but I didn't get an instant "this is the best band/song ever" sensation. Slowly, but surely, that all changed. Not only did I have to get used to their brand of music, but like a fine wine, the intricacies and genius of Okkervil River aren't apparent as soon as the wine hits your tongue, so to speak.

Not surprisingly, the band is on indie power house label Jagjaguwar, whose roster of artists also includes Black Mountain, Bon Iver, Daniel Johnston, Ladyhawke, Pink Mountaintops, and Sunset Rubdown. Read more abou the label here.

Okkervil River is an indie folk band from Austin, Texas. Formed in 1998, the band takes its name from a short story by Russian author Tatyana Tolstaya. They self-released their first album, Stars Too Small to Use, which led them to the South by Southwest music festival. The band has garnered positive critical reception. Especially noted are each song's lyrics, intricate instrumentation, and thematic albums. They have performed with high profile bands such as The Decemberists, The New Pornographers, and Lou Reed.
