O Zhang @ ASS

Mark your calendars: ASS (Asia Song Society) is having an opening you won't want to miss.

Says ASS owner Terence Koh: i am very proud that this tuesdae, march 3, 2009, 7pm we will debut solo exhibition O ZHANG call A STREAM BENDS FOR A THOUSAND LI

title comes from an ancient chinese poem liu zongyuan that evokes a stream winding its way to a distant and unknown place in the forest. (please remember li is a chinese unit of measurement.)

for this installation zhang has collaborated with new york artists peter garfield to create an idyllic tropical garden inside our gallery. nestled into the leaves and branches are several dozen photographs from absolutely amazing zhang’s photographic series daddy and i. each image depicts a young chinese girl with her adoptive american father.

the installation is open mon-fri 10-6 until beginning of april. hope no rain also!

If you've been to any of the openings in the past, you'll know where to go. If not, I can't help you, but I'll give you a hint: the address is now posted on their site for the whole wide world to see. See you Tuesday.
