Foals

I was listening to the Foals yesterday while cleaning my apartment after a much-needed hiatus from the band.

When I first got their record, I listened to it non-stop for weeks. In looking back at the site, though, I realized that I've included them in playlists, but have never formally covered them and feel that it's important that I do so because their music is simply awesome.

As a side note, I just interviewed the Maccabees for CITY. In looking back on the band's history, I became aware that the band has been around since 2005 and have just recently started to get the widespread attention that their music deserves. If you've listened to their first record, I'm sure you too will find it hard to believe that they weren't an instant hit. Given the sheer amount of music on the market these days, even amazing bands can fall by the wayside if we all don't do our best to promote those we love, which bring me back to the Foals.

After reading the intro to the band's Wiki, I think Foals are off to a good start. "Foals are a band from Oxford, England. The band are signed with Transgressive Records in Europe and Sub Pop in the USA. A full length album—entitled Antidotes—was released on 24 March 2008 in the UK, and 8 April in the USA. It was produced by Dave Sitek of TV on the Radio though the band chose to mix the record themselves." Sub Pop and the producer from TVOTR? That's some good connections, if you ask me.

Read the full Wiki here. Make sure to check out their official site and their MySpace, where you can test drive a few songs from various records, giving you a nice variety of what the band sounds like. Also, check out videos for Cassius, Olympic Airways, and a live version one of my favorites Two Steps Twice. Give it a minute. The beginning is rough, to say the least, but it gets better and made me realize the complexity of their music and how hard it is to pull this stuff of live!!

They haven't got much by way of tour dates listed on the site, which I find surprising, but let's hope that changes soon.
