Clowns rule.

If you too are a fan of clowns, you too will love the painting by Chris Johanson (although I'd like to see it as a larger piece instead of a little wooden block) that's part of the upcoming Taste Makers series at Saturdays@Phillips that's just around the corner.

Hip New York couple Cynthia Rowley and Bill Powers are featured on the cover of the current catalog for the auction and are the tastemakers for the event, having helped select works for the auction. If you collect auction catalogs, you'll want to get your hands on this one. A friend who's something of an art savant -- not to mention man about town and purveyor of cool -- Ken Miller contributed to the catalog and was picked to consult on the selection of works that would be presented. In addition, one of my favorite photographers -- Dean Kaufman -- shot the work for the catalog.

Artists whose work is included in the auction: Tom Sachs, Mike Kelley, Jeff Koons, Nan Golden, Marilyn Minter, Murakami, Cindy Sherman, ESPO, and Mark Newsom.
