Fantastic Man Eau de Cologne

I love how everybody's got their hands in everything these days. Musicians as designers. Designers as artists. Artists as editors. It's an all out creative renaissance.

Who would have thought, though, that the editors of a men's fashion magazine would team up with a perfumier to create a men's fragrance? Maybe you did, but like the remake of Stan Smiths by ARC, this is a hot collaboration that just had never crossed my mind.

The founder of Byredo Parfums, Mr. Ben Gorham, worked closely with Gert Jonkers and Jop Van Bennekom, the editors of Fantastic Man (the men's fashion mag that followed their first magazine Butt, to develop a scent that encapsulates both the magazine and the fragrance house. It's the playful percentages of the notes that make Fantastic Man Eau de Cologne unique, so while the notes are traditional to a cologne, the way they come together is entirely original.

There are top notes of Bergamot, Star Anise, Cardamom; the mid tones are Geranium, Incense, Lavender; and a base of Vetyver, Moss, Patchouli. Sounds amazing. now that Histoires des Parfums has me cheating on my bottle of Comme des Garcons Series 3 Incense cologne and into higher end fragrances, who knows what's next for me.
