Gitman Brothers Vintage Shirts As far as I'm concerned, everyone looks hot in a well-fitted, plaid shirt. It's one of the recent trends that works for everyone that I think will be around for a few more seasons. I just came across a line of shirts by old school, master shirt makers Gitman Brothers, who have recently launched Gitman Vintage and the shirts loook pretty hot. Looks like the indies are going to have to mix it up. When a company like Gitman enters the fitted plaid shirt game -- whose shirts retail for $130-$150, which is nearly $100 cheaper than most of the top indie lines -- the little guys have to go back to the drawing board and turn out a hotter product to justify their price point. It's not that they want to charge more, but given the quantities they produce and the fact that they have to rely on a factory like Gitman to produce their shirts, the cost of production is just higher. It's great news for the consumer, but not so for smaller designers. Gitman Vintage is an American heritage sport-shirt and neckwear line that pays tribute to its past, but with a distinct difference. While continuing to honor the importance of a finely crafted button-down oxford and the indispensable pinpoint, the design team at Gitman dusted off old line books to curate an authentic interpretation of the past by selectively appropriating their favorite fabrics and having them remade. The line also recreates le mode retro details, including original double-track stitching, chalk buttons, locker-loops and box-pleats. Read more about the line here and check out their site. Unfortunately, they don't have many images of the collection online, but given the list of retailers who currently carry the line -- Ron Herman, Barney's, United Arrows, Isetan, Oak, and Isetan -- I'm pretty sure it's gotta be good.
