MARTIN

Long time Nice Collective collaborator and bicycle enthusiast Michael Martin has branched out on his own with a hot new line of menswear aptly named MARTIN.

MARTIN of San Francisco is the result of a decade of collaborative work between Michael Martin and Nice Collective. Together, the designers have created a collection of garments that ensure efficient movement. This translates to a precise and symbiotic relationship between the body and the garment. The clothing is engineered with resourceful capabilities yet retains a sophisticated style for those seeking simplicity, clean lines and useful but understated detailing. The line leans on quality and authenticity to express an exciting new vision.

To the untrained eye, MARTIN is a line of cool, well-tailored menswear that stradles the line between casual and sophisticated. Underlying the sleek lines and tailored fits are simple, yet calculated details that make the line perfect for the guy who might be into biking just as its designer Michael Martin is.

There's the nylon windbreaker that architecturally folds in on itself to stuff away into its own stowaway pocket; the Reversible Moleskin Jacket that retains a built in waterproof layer allowing the jacket to "flip" when defense against inclement weather is needed; and a zip through hooded sweater hides a built-in cap for increased warmth capabilities while magnetic fasteners ensuring pockets stay closed and items remain in place.

The details are so subtle that anyone can wear the pieces and not look like they're wearing "sports clothes"; and the details are so good that guys who need the function can look good while doing whatever it is they're doing without having to sacrifice style. Love it.

Be on the look out for MARTIN at Steven Alan (Tribeca and Venice LA), Odin (New York), BASE (Miami), Jake (Chicago), Blake (Portland), Ian (Seattle), Kuhlman (Seattle), and Farinelli's (DC).
