Christopher Wool + Supreme

Supreme's just launched the latest in a series of artist collaborations, this time teaming up with New York artist Christopher Wool.

"Born in Chicago, Christopher Wool relocated to New York City in the early 1970's. During that time he studied painting and worked as an artist's assistant to Joel Shapiro. In 1984, Wool had his first solo show at the legendary Cable Gallery. Working mainly in black and white, Wool works with a mixture of painterly styles."

"In 1987, Christopher Wool began his black and white stenciled word paintings. Wool carefully chose words and phrases for these pieces and the letter composition he applied set his work apart from the stencil art category."

"Since his first one-man show Christopher Wool's work has been shown at the Whitney Biennial 1989, Museum of Modern Art, the New Museum of Art Lucerne, Switzerland, and Contemporary Museum of Art, Los Angeles."

Read more here. For Supreme, Wool has designed a series of three limited edition skateboard decks that will be available at the NY, LA and online shops on October 2nd and in Japan on October 4th.

Don't forget to checkout Wool's site, which is full of images of current and past work, pics of Wool's work on Gagosian's site, and keep an eye out for Parkett Vol 83, which Wool has contributed work to. It comes out tomorrow 10.01.08.
