| Hate Mail I don't know why, but I like to post some of the hate mail I get. Thankfully, I only post a handful of negative things ever, so hate mail is few and far between. This guy's mad that I don't like Cecily Brown's show, which is a valid point. To each his own, as the saying goes. I said if the show had been up at another gallery, I may not have reacted so strongly. Gagosian's got a pretty tight program and I didn't think her work was worthy. Cecily Brown's latest show at Gagosian is like eating Kraft Macaroni and Cheese at Per Se was my analogy. Here's what the b todd had to say. From: b todd [mailto:modernmortals@gmail.com] Sent: Sunday, September 28, 2008 9:49 PM To: info@thisheartsonfire.com Subject: pure rubbish? Are you kidding me? Rubbish? Those were the best paintings I've seen in Chelsea this season. Rubbish? Why was the show 90% sold out then at 600k a pop? I think those paintings were beautiful and the paint control was masterful. To each his own. There's plenty of artists I don't like or appreciate but that post was just ridiculous and unnecessary. No response needed. Thanks I love how this guy thinks my opinion on art matters. Score one for the home team! Maybe I should write more negative stuff. More hate mail could be just what I need to spice up my work from home alone doldrums. And by the way, how did the mysterious b todd know the show sold out 90% at 600k a pop. Sounds a little insider to me, but that rocks because I was trying to figure out how much they could get for those paintings because it's Gagosian. All I'll say is "WOW!". People will buy anything. |
