Haunch Of Venison

There's LOTS going on at Haunch Of Venison at the moment.

In New York, Abtract Expressionism A World Elsewhere features over 60 works by artists Lee Krasner, De Kooning, Gorky, Rothko, Franz Kline, and Clifford Still.

"The exhibition is organized and curated by David Anfam, the eminent London-based art historian, critic and expert on modern American art. His selection highlights masterpieces from the leading figures of the movement and also more peripheral ones, offering a unique opportunity to view Abstract Expressionism afresh in the twenty-first century." Read more here.

The London gallery is showing Related by Cuban-American artist Anthony Goicolea. "Related is the latest in an ongoing series in which Goicolea uses drawing, photography, sculpture and installation to explore his family history and identity as well as larger themes of ritual, assimilation and alienation." Read more here, where you'll find pics of works in the show, and the artist's bio.

A group show called Peace and agriculture in a pre-romantic ideal landscape, without sublime terrors is on view at HoV's Berlin space. The show takes its title from "the painting The Harvesters (1565) by Pieter Brueghel the Elder and is fitting for an exhibition that looks to explore the distinction between pre and post industrial periods of art, with a direct comment on today's landscape."

Artists included: Ori Gersht, Stefanie Bühler, James Ireland, Via Lewandowsky, Takeshi Murata, and Jules Spinatsch. Read more here. There's some really amazing work in this show.

Last but not least, Daniele Buetti's solo show Snowflakes Over A Burning House is up at HoV's Zurich gallery. "Daniele Buetti's work explores the quest for personal identity in a weary world dominated by oppressive media machinery and consumer passions. Buetti, well known for his lightboxes, photographs and installations featuring gruesomely defaced top models with artificial ballpen scarifications, has lately concentrated on grotesque elements of his artistic topoi." I especially like his lightbox work. The images, colors, and compositions are gorgeous. Click here for images of his work, a press release, and more info on the artist.
