Pinche Taqueria & The Mercury Dime

When I'm strapped for time and don't feel like locking up my bike to run in and get lunch, I go to Bite's bite-sized sandwich stand, where I saddle up to the window and order without ever leaving my bike. If you don't know Bite (335 Lafayette Street just below Bleecker), check it out.

As I approached yesterday, I noticed something was off. Something new had opened, so I went to investigate.

A new outpost of one of my favorite taco stands from NoLita -- Pinche Taqueria -- has opened. That's the place I covered in the Spring that has the best fish tacos ever, and I don't usually like fish tacos. The space is amazing, the location much more convenient than the Mott Street spot, and the prices are oh so right. Check it out.

Next up, The Mercury Dime, which is owned by the ubiquitous Sasha Petraske, of Milk & Honey, Company Bar, and now White Star fame.

"Sasha Petraske and T.J. Siegal, West Village natives and friends since Stuyvesant High School, haven’t started their workday at 6 a.m. since—well, probably ever. As veterans of the hospitality industry, their biological clocks are set just a tad later. But look for a bleary-eyed Siegal manning the Faema E61 espresso machine at the Mercury Dime, the partners' East Village coffee bar."

I'll let you know how it goes.
