Come As You Are If you're in San Francisco on Wednesday, 06.10.09, stop by Project One Gallery for Come As You Are, which runs through 07.11.09. Project One Gallery presents Come As You Are, a collective exhibition curated by Brooke Waterhouse and Rachel Lena Esterline. The selection of pieces for this exhibition manifests a wide range of interpretations by the viewer. The curators picked work with the goal of creating a show that allowed for an open dialogue between the works and their audience. In a world where so many of us are sleep walking through the daily barrage of advertisements and news scares, Come As You Are prompts us to snap out of it, to be present so we can create a conversation with art and artists instead of the mainstream media that overpowers us. The exhibition will allow you to look inside yourself for a meaning, a connotation, an explanation. The curators have stripped away the pretensions of a so-called "culture" and left us on our own. Whether the reaction is settling or not, whether it is pleasant or not, Waterhouse and Esterline only ask that we come as we are.
