Who knew: Diesel has an online radio station or as they call it a "social music network". The crew from London is currently in New York hosting shows from the window of the new 5th Avenue Diesel store through Wednesday.
Discover, download and share tracks from a rapidly expanding international community of the the best new music artists. Popular music rises as the community decides what they like most, and users influence which artists will get additional support from the many benefits and opportunities on offer. Musicians, no matter what their music style get a platform to host their music, promote news and events and connect with existing and new fans from a vast international music hungry community.
No rules radio. Broadcasting live from our London studio to both online, mobile-web listeners and to Diesel stores worldwide. Free from commercial playlists, we play what we want, when we want. Traveling the world to attend music festivals, interview the best bands (signed and unsigned alike), featuring the best music submitted to the community, and bringing you exclusive tracks. Additionally you can stream our specially curated mixes or download the podcast.
Read all about it here. I love it when a big company with deep pockets does something cool like this. In true Diesel style, they're using the radio station as an opportunity to give back to their loyal customers.
Enter the D.U.M. Tour (that's Diesel U: Music, of course). It began in Berlin on 07.03.09 and it set to hit New York this Thursday, 07.30.09. From now until the end of the year, the D.U.M. Tour travels around the globe making stops in Tokyo, Helsinki, Oslo, Madrid, Beijing, London, and several other major cities.
After 1,000's of submissions of music by relatively unknown bands worldwide, two acts -- The Terror Pigeon Dance Revolt! and
HEARTSREVOLUTION -- have been chosen to headline the tour, which they'll play with more well-known acts like my current favorite band Passion Pit, Ladyhawke, New Young Pony Club, Cobra Starship, The Roots, and many more yet unannounced.
Click here for more information. If you're looking for tickets, there's only one way to get them: show up at one of the participating Diesel stores (click here for the list) in a pair of Diesel jeans. In true recession style, they're not making anyone buy anything, just show that you're a fan. Don't have a pair of Diesel jeans? Find someone who does and borrow a pair.
