No Age

Check out LA indie band No Age. I came upon their MySpace the other day and think they rock. Kinda remind me a bit of Super Chunk on some songs, which is a major compliment.

No Age is a two-person noise pop group consisting of guitarist Randy Randall and drummer Dean Allen Spunt. The band is based in Los Angeles and currently signed to Sub Pop records. They take their name from the title of a 1987 SST Records instrumental compilation, which Spunt discovered while working at Aron's, a record store in Los Angeles. They have been listed as mainstays of The Smell, along with HEALTH, Mika Miko, Silver Daggers, Abe Vigoda, BARR, and David Scott Stone.

Their strong ties with the Los Angeles underground community centered around the Smell and their DIY ethic is a throwback to the 1980's strong hardcore and punk underground, and, indeed, that inspiration shines through on much of their music.

Read their full Wiki here. Make sure to check out their MySpace, where you can test drive some songs and get a full listing of upcoming shows, including a gig in Brooklyn on 08.02.09 at Jelly Space 2009, which I think is connected to the Pool Parties thing from McCarren Pool in years past, but the venue has moved.

Click here for more info and here for a flyer with the lineup for the rest of the summer, that includes Health, The Black Lips, Dan Deacon, and many many more.
