Alex B | Alexander Yamaguchi

Provincetown has a few surprisingly sophisticated stores for a town of roughly 3,000 people. Given the cadre of stylish people who pass through, though, it's not a huge surprise that the stores can sustain themselves.

One such store is ITEM (209 Commercial Street), who have an amazing selection, including a line of t-shirts by LA based designer Yuji Yamaguchi, who formerly designed a line under the name Alex B and now designs under the name Alexander Yamaguchi, which I'd not seen or heard of before.

The line is just perfect. For starters, the fabric is incredible. Some of the tees are basic organic washed cotton in the right weight with the perfect amount of washing to make them feel like you've had them forever, but not so treated like some lines that become trendy and tacky. Some of the unprinted styles have the most amazing detailing, stitching, and unfinished seams. Others are made out of slub cotton, which I've loved for a few years now. I love the fits and the collars lines are on point, using a mix of crew, rounded and V.

There doesn't seem to be a site for the line, which is unfortunate, but you can check out styles on Context's site and on Ron Herman.com. Context is having a half price sale and the already perfectly priced line is even more affordable. Don't forget to check out this blog entry on LUDWIG's site about designer the designer of the line, Yuji Yamaguchi.
