I found out something interesting on Saturday night: what was once one of the hottest clubs in town -- Life -- is back as Le Possion Rouge. Back in the day -- the mid 90's to be exact -- Life was one of the hottest tickets in town, but got shut down because the spill over of unruly patrons on Bleecker Street was public enemy #1. Thankfully, though, it's back and will host the DFA Holiday Freakout.

In case you don't know, DFA is hot: think LCD Soundsystem, Black Dice, Hercules and Love Affair, Holy Ghost!, and it looks like they've added Hot Chip to their line up.

I'll let you in on a little secret: their holiday party rocks. I went two years ago when it was at Studio B and had the best time. The music was amazing. The crowd was amazing. It was just a great night. If you love music, clubs, and dancing, you won't want to miss this year's DFA Holiday Freakout.

It's this Friday 12.19.08 at Le Poisson Rouge (158 Bleecker). The best part: they're not out to price gouge. Tickets in advance cost a mere $5 and only $8 at the door. I'd buy now, though, because it will sell out. They're available at the club and at Other Music.

Mark your calendars now: one of my favorite bands (and a favorite of Thom Yorke) Modeselektor have just announced a show on Saturday 01.24.09 at Bowery Ballroom. Get tickets now!!
