BLAG Blogs

During the last couple of weeks we got the magazine on sale, threw a party, made a film and tried to help stop Zack Galifianakis' hiccups.

A few things happened lately that I can't disclose. I wish I could, but if I did, I'd have to kill you. However, I can tell you, I am writing a comedy, I've been writing it for the past few years and it's based on my experiences of human interaction, the leagues we get put into. How sometimes we fall below our expectations in other peoples eyes and sometimes way above. It also looks at how egos grow and shrink in a matter of seconds. I can't wait to get it finished, but pretty much everyday a new scenario arises that I want to include and what happened recently, is definitely in the running!

The week before last Sally and I enjoyed a very civilised tea and cake session with our mutual friends Stuart Semple and Emily Mann. Stuart and Emily are great fun, we talked and talked and talked. It was a welcome break from the madness of London's West End, where any kind of calm is pretty impossible as we prepare for the Olympics – unless you have a few hundred pounds to burn at a spa! The Elemis Spa at the Intercontinental is probably the first place I'd hit and the only place of solace I can think of in close range... if only the funds warranted.

On Wednesday we had the party for the film premier of The Wackness the Johnathan Levine directed NYC coming of age film starring Ben Kingsley (he already came of age), Josh Peck, and Olivia Thurlby. Sally and I were asked to help throw the party as they wanted a real mid-nineties hip hop feel, so Sally hired the UK's finest award winning DJs Shortee Blitz and Mr. Thing. Guests who joined in the fun were Will Young, Adele, and Jared Leto.

On Thursday it was the WK Interact and Anthony ListerM private view at Elms Lesters Painting Rooms. I took Stuart and Emily along and the show is pretty spectacular. Anthony Lister's superheroes are beautiful and WK's pieces are full of brilliant messages.

Sally and I made our film with the gents this weekend, Anthony Lister is really a cool and stylish person. He's not even thirty and has a gorgeous wife and two children, an ever-growing successful career and the demeanor of a rock star meets Hunter S. Thompson, a total inspiration.

WK is a slick NY based Parisian, who decided he could read my past. Now, that was an interesting experience. Apparently on the first few seconds of him meeting me, he figured I've got loads of different energies going on, because of all my experiences (probably right), that I'm picky in a good way (mmm, kind of right) and that I'm really organized (wrong!)

As soon as the film is done, I'll let you know.

During the week I also went to check out the latest range of Black Dice time pieces, they're a UK based very stylish watch makers and have also just launched the Evisu watch line. I can see Kanye lapping them up.

Saw Chester French at the Mean Fidler on Saturday night, they were great, everything else about it was rubbish. Later that night Sally and I thought it'd be fun to round up all our international guests for their last night in London. We took Anthony Lister, WK Interact, Brent, Mike, Sneed, Chester French's D.A. all out for cocktails at... I don't need to tell you... Seb Chew was DJing. It was pretty funny to watch a group of scantily clad girlies hit on the boys, a hilarious repeat performance on a Groundhog Day level. As we left the fallout of Reading Festival arrived members of The Racounteurs, Metallica, Rage Against The Machine, The Killers and the aforementioned hiccuping Zack Galifianakis pushed their way in. I'm sure the party was fun, but for me a good time to go home to bed!

Took Chester French's D.A. for a Dim Sum lunch at – in my opinion, still – one of London's best restaurants Yauatcha yesterday and a place I always take my favourite people. Then we went shopping. D.A. has a cool approach to fashion, but I kept bullying him to dress a bit younger though, he's got the college-to-business man look down to a T, so a stroll along Savile Row and Jermyn Street was a must. If you ever see D.A, say hi, he's a total inspiration and I will make sure my kids stick out college if he is anything to go by. Bank holiday Sunday isn't the best day to shop with many places being closed, but we got a good look around Liberty at nice new lines from McQ, McQueen, Rick Owens, Linda Farrow, and Costume National.

Today was a holiday, but I have been working!

Until next time,

Sarah x
