| Sunset Rubdown I'm sure you haven't heard the new Wolf Parade EP At Mount Zoomer yet, as it's not been officially released and I know you don't illegally download music. I know I don't. I did, though, mysteriously get a copy of the EP and to be quite frank: it kinda sucks. In all fairness, maybe if I'd never heard Apologies To The Queen - which a friend and I said would be the EP we'd want to have if marooned on a desert island -- I might like it more. Compared to the first EP, which is still un fucking believable, this one is just okay. It definitely sounds like Wolf Parade (Spencer Krug's voice can't be watered down) but unlike other bands who've come out with sophmore EPs in which they sound more mature and whose sounds have evolved, Wolf Parade sounds like someone gave them a bunch of Xanax and said "make an album that only Starbucks could love". Anyway, listen for yourself. If you love the first Apologies To The Queen, I think you'll know what I mean. What you want to listen to instead: Sunset Rubdown. "Sunset Rubdown is an indie rock band from Montreal. The band began as a solo project for Spencer Krug of Wolf Parade, who released his debut, Snake's Got a Leg, in July 2005." It sounds like Wolf Parade because of Krug's unmistakeable voice, but is a bit more raw and raucous than the latest Wolf Parade EP. The band has an astonishing four (4) EPs out. See the list here. The latest - Random Spirit Lover - I just got a copy of and it rocks. Again, nothing close to Apologies To The Queen, but that's life and I'll let it go.
