Kiki Allgeier · Panda Bear · Supermasochist

1. In case you missed the Kiki Allgeier reference and link yesterday, here she is again. She's just collaborated as director of photography and editor on Lawrence Weiner's new art/porn flick Water Exists In Milk, which is on view at the Swiss Institute now through 07.19.2008. "Allgeier is best known for films and performances that blend elements of fiction, documentary, and experimental film – with the aim of creating a dynamic and innovative experience for the viewer. She occupies the space between fantasy and objective reality, attempting to build bridges between them while highlighting the experiential commonalities of all people." Checkout her site for more info. She's also just collaborated with famed photographer Ralph Gibson on a film project called Ich Bin Die Nacht and is working on short films for the 100th anniversary celebration of Le Meridien hotel. Keep an eye on this one.

2. There's so much music out these days, it's super hard to keep up. By now I'm sure you've heard of Animal Collective. If not checkout their MySpace to listen to a few tracks. You'll love it. Trust me. One of the members of the band - Panda Bear - came out with an EP in 2007 called Person Pitch, which I've just gotten ahold of. It's amazing. His voice is like Brian Wilson and the music is unlike anything I've heard in a while. Listen to a few tracks on MySpace and read this interview/profile on Pitchfork. And definitely get Person Pitch. I've only had the EP for a few days and the number of times I've played it (gotta love iTunes play count stat) is insane.

3. Mark your calendars: apexart has a 6 day show coming up called Come Out & Play. It consists of "6 days of projects organized by Azeb Worku Sibane, Vicky Shick, Daniel Seiple, Sheree Rose, Radhika Subramaniam, and Shelly Silver". Click here for details. Of note on Wednesday, 06.11.08 is Supermasochist. From 11am - 6pm, there will be screenings from apexart’s open call for short performance videos on the topic of exhibitionism and sado-masochism. From 6-8pm, "Discussing S&M: A painless conversation with Sheree Rose, collaborator and dominatrix of Bob Flanagan. Sheree Rose will show excerpts from the award-winning documentary Sick: The Life and Death of Bob Flanagan, Supermasochist, along with seldom-seen short videos."
