G-Shock · Pisszine Issue 4 · My Bloody Valentine

1. Guess who's having a birthday? G-Shock. Remember??? It was the last watch that I owned and thanks to their blowout 25th Anniversary Party last night, I now have a new watch. No more using my Blackberry to tell time. In case you've been living under a rock, "G-shock is a brand of watches manufactured by Casio, known for its resistance to shocks. They were, and continue to be, designed primarily for sports and outdoor adventure oriented activity; for example, practically all G-Shocks have some kind of stopwatch feature, countdown timer, light and water resistance. Recent models have become more luxury and design oriented." They were hot hot in the mid 90's and then everyone (me included) got sick of them. They were too big, too sporty, and tastes change. Well tastes are coming back around and there are now many new models out to suit everyone's taste. Checkout them out: Ana Digi, Classic, Limited Edition (my favorites), and Atomic Solar. What you want to get your hands on is the (Eric) Haze limited edition watch out in August. "This is the third Eric Haze edition to be released. The unique G-Shock 25th Anniversary logo that appears on the back of each 25th Anniversary watch was designed by Eric Haze, truly a testament of the close association between G-Shock and Haze." And for all the ladies, there's Baby G. Check it out.

2. PISSZINE 04 - The Hotel/Room issue is out. "What goes on in this transitional world, behind closed doors? What is the true meaning of room service? Who is that handsome stranger?" Look for work by: Matmos, Matthias Hermann, Rick Castro, Paolo Rumi, Marco Mazzoni, Brandon Herman, and more. Checkout their site for full details and to get a subscription. They're throwing a launch party in Milan on 05.24.08 @ Glitter Pagliaccia. Check it out and report back.

3. Everyone's favorite shoegazing band -- My Bloody Valentine -- are playing a few shows in New York and a handful of other cities worldwide. "My Bloody Valentine's use of guitar distortion, vibrato, and digital reverb placed them as part of the shoegazing genre. Their 1991 album Loveless took two years to make, but once released it was critically acclaimed. Following Loveless, My Bloody Valentine became inactive, with Shields scrapping albums worth of follow-up material. In 2007, Shields announced that the band had reunited and was recording new material." Make sure to checkout their site for tour dates and their MySpace for everything else. Checkout this video for Only Shallow on YouTube and don't forget to checkout the 1981 slasher film from whence the name came. Tarantino calls it his all time favorite slasher film and there's currently a remake in the works. Stay tuned...
