Bad Brains + Supreme/Other Criteria Artist Tees 1. It's like every collaboration trumps the one before it with Supreme these days. First it was Jeff Koons, then Richard Prince, and most recently Marilyn Minter. Guess who's coming to dinner this time? Bad Brains. (Probably the only all black hardcore punk rock band ever!) "Bad Brains is an American Hardcore punk band formed in Washington, D.C. in 1977. Highly regarded as being among the pioneers of hardcore punk, though Bad Brains themselves have objected to the term 'hardcore' to describe their music. Bad Brains has had a major influence on skate culture, therefore it was only natural for Supreme to join the band to produce a small capsule collection. Supreme will release a Vans Sk-8 HI in three colorways, harrington jacket, and two t-shirts." Checkout the full press release here, along with images from the collection. I have to admit, I'm not crazy about the jackets and only like the black and white tees. It's the Vans that rock. How I'm going to get my hands on a pair of each color way is what I have to figure out. 2. Damien Hirst's artsite Other Criteria is at it again. On the block: editions of tees originally made to coincide with the RED Auction at Sotheby's. "To coincide with the RED auction at Sotheby’s New York on Valentine’s Day 2008, this range of t-shirts illustrates a selection of the artworks from the auction, designed by the donating artists. All profits from the sale of these shirts goes directly to the Global fund (recipient of RED funds) that finances programs to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria in Africa." Who's involved: Damien Hirst (of course!), Tracey Emin, Jeff Koons, Ghada Amer, and Michael Craig-Martin. 3. check back shortly for updates... |
