Robert Geller @ Den/Grom Downtown/Zombie Strippers 1. Odin's ever-changing pop up shop, Den, soft-launched Robert Geller's menswear line last week. When I stopped by on Thursday, the clerk said there was more coming and to check back this weekend. I stopped by today and sure enough: she was right! You'll remember Geller as the Marc Jacobs-trained designer who came in near the end of now-defunct Cloak's run to help with the line. Make sure to checkout his site for pics from his A/W 08 collection and click here for images from S/S 08. Of course, it's always much better to see the collection in person. Stop by Den on 11th between 1st and 2nd. 2. Grom - New York's one and only celebrity gelato shop - has finally moved downtown, opening up shop at Bleecker and Carmine. "Grom is synonymous with gelato of the highest quality. The idea is to apply a principle common to all the best restaurants in the world to the production of handmade gelato: the purchase of raw materials of absolute top quality." Prior to this weekend, there was only one Grom in the US, nicely hidden from the civilized world on the Upper West Side. If you haven't yet experienced Grom, now's the time. Just try it. Trust me. 3. I have a feeling this one's going to be as good (bad good) as Showgirls. Opening 04.18.08, Zombie Strippers stars the one and only Jenna Jameson. You'll remember Jenna from her star performances in Up And Cummers 1-20, On Her Back, and I Love Lesbians. "In the not too distant future a secret government re-animation chemo-virus gets released into conservative Sartre, Nebraska and lands in an underground strip club. As the virus begins to spread, turning the strippers into Super Zombie Strippers, the girls struggle with whether or not to conform to the new 'fad' even if it means there's no turning back." Sartre, Nebraska: That's pretty deep. I'm buying tickets now. Even if only to see Jameson attempt non-porn acting and, of course, to see if those rumors of anorexia are founded or not. Don't forget to watch the trailer and get all of the details on IMDB. |
