More Chinese Art: Cheng Guangfeng + Ai Weiwei

1. Sound and performance avant-gardist Cheng Guangfeng has something super hot in the works. No hints yet, but for those who don't know his work check out his blog. He's part of the current exhibition at the National University of Singapore Museum, Reconfiguration: Chinese Contemporary Art with superstars like Cao Fei, Yue Minjun, and Fang Lijun. He's probably best known for a sound performance piece wherein he had himself put under general anesthesia for a half hour, and invited attendees to use stethoscopes to experience the sounds his body was making.

2. Sino-renaissance man Ai Weiwei continues his bid for art-world domination by contributing to the new group show Body Media at the Tang Contemporary Art Gallery in Beijing, along with Zhao Bandi, An Di, and Shu Yong. His works for this piece come from his blog, and outline the process of his continued penchant for giving bizarre haircuts to those around him, including two members of our Chinatown Design Collective. This, in addition to his own Fake Design's collaboration with Herzog & De Meuron on the Beijing National Olympic Stadium and his current show in NYC at Mary Boone further demonstrate that Weiwei's name will be on the tip of many a tongue for some time to come.
