Patti Smith + Foundation Cartier/New Deadly Sins/Flashback: Angelyne 1. One of my favorite highbrow arts organizations -- Fondation Cartier -- has a show entitled Land 250 opening 03.28.08 and running through 06.22.08 featuring the work of Patti Smith. "The Fondation Cartier is hosting a major solo exhibition of the visual work of American artist and performer Patti Smith. Drawn from pieces created between 1967 and 2007, it strives to provide an insight into her lyrical, spiritual and poetic universe. Her expressive voice serves to magnify the installations created specifically for the exhibition: a synthesis of photographs, drawings and films." Checkout their site for further details. It's a Flash site, so I can't direct link you to the page, but it's easy to navigate. 2. Just when you thought you had it easy keeping yourself on the straight and narrow and away from the 7 Deadly Sins, our friends at The Vatican have added some new, modern deadly sins to the list to keep us all in check. The originals: Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Sloth, Anger, Envy, and Pride. The additions: Environmental pollution, Genetic manipulation, Accumulating excessive wealth, Inflicting poverty, Drug trafficking and consumption, Morally debatable experiments, and Violation of fundamental rights of human nature. Not only is the wording complicated, but what the f&*k? I guess I'm going to have stop my home cloning experiments, shut down the meth distribution ring, and give away part of my fortune. (Perhaps The Vatican should follow its own advice?!?) Don't forget to checkout the 7 Deadly Sins series by Ju$t Another Rich Kid and this sexy set of 7 Deadly Sins plates available at Neiman Marcus. I saw them at the Paul Smith store on 5th and 16th Street last week. They're really hot. 3. Look who's out and about: none other than my original freakshow obession Angelyne. TMZ posted some pics of the aging plastic surgery disaster recently, who used to be out and about in LA a lot, but I have a feeling as she's getting up in years, her vanity is getting the best of her. Not quite as scary as Jocelyn Wildenstein (not safe for those with weak stomachs), but not exactly a face you can do much to make pretty in the sunlight no matter how skilled a makeup artist you are. Don't forget to checkout her cameo in Moby's 2002 video We Are All Made Of Stars. |
