Odin + Duckie Brown = EDWARDBy Editor in Fashion on October 22nd, 2009 | 4 Comments »
Just when you thought nobody in fashion was paying attention, along comes a new line by two industry veterans whose aim is to use their combined experience in the menswear market to produce something well-made and cool without the high-end price tag.
New York fashion designers Duckie Brown and retailer Odin New York have partnered to create the contemporary men’s line EDWARD. The small capsule that will be available at the Odin stores (and online) consists of outwear, jackets, blazers, trouser and button downs.
The collection utilizes luxurious fabrics and quality manufacturing at approachable pricing. The debut collection consists of 17 classic pieces, featuring a black cotton moleskin pea coat, waxed cotton army jacket, two button black herringbone blazer.
EDWARD was named because we all had an important Edward in our lives – and we actually envisioned a character named Edward, thinking about who he was, his interests, his personality, etc. Edward then embodied a piece of each of our own sensibilities into a focused common thread.
The way I see it, this is a match made in heaven: store owners know what the customer wants and what the customer is buying and designers know the best places to get things produced and have worked through the trials and tribulations of production. I have a good feeling about this. There’s a private preview next week and I can’t wait to see the line. I’ll keep you posted. In the meantime, check out the pics below.
