Who Would You Rather Have As Your Scissor Sister: Pierogi Hilton or ?!?

What would Friday be if it weren't a Celeb Death Match between Pierogi Hilton (all the fat and twice the dumb) and one of his much-ragged-on celebs.

You can thank me up until now. The hardest you've had to think so far was the poll of Pierogi vs. Brooke Hogan. Poor Pierogi lost to the Hulk Hogan's tranny daughter 99% to 1% and I'm sure the 1% was him trying to save face.

This week is tough: you've seen her pics all over the blogs. Lindsay Lohan's faking lez like so many desperate, starved-for-attention girls before her. Who's the other womyn? The very unattractive SaMANtha Ronson. (I'm sorry, but I cannot tell a lie.)

Jack*%ss · Cold War Kids · Superdome

1. It's a great day in the artworld when none other than Johnny Knoxville inspires a gallery show. Seriously! How rad is that? "Susan Inglett is pleased to present Jack *%ss, a curated exhibition to run 29 May through July 31, 2008. Lifted from the annals of MTV history, Jack *%ss takes its title from the eponymous American television program featuring the stunts and pranks of a cast led by pop impresario Johnny Knoxville."

2. Have you heard of the Cold War Kids?? If not, you need to check them out. They rock. Literally. And they're playing in Prospect Park for free on Friday, 06.27.08 at 7pm.

3. Checkout SUPERDOME, the current show up at Palais De Tokyo in Paris. "The Superdome is a mythical stadium: built in 1975 in New Orleans (Louisiana), it has hosted numerous Super Bowls, a Rolling Stones concert, Pope John Paul II, the Republican Convention and refugees of Hurricane Katrina."

Kiki Allgeier · Panda Bear · Supermasochist

1. In case you missed the Kiki Allgeier reference and link yesterday, here she is again. She's just collaborated as director of photography and editor on Lawrence Weiner's new art/porn flick Water Exists In Milk, which is on view at the Swiss Institute now through 07.19.2008.

2. There's so much music out these days, it's super hard to keep up. By now I'm sure you've heard of Animal Collective. If not checkout their MySpace to listen to a few tracks. You'll love it. Trust me. One of the members of the band - Panda Bear - came out with an EP in 2007 called Person Pitch, which I've just gotten ahold of.

3. Mark your calendars: apexart has a 6 day show coming up called Come Out & Play. It consists of "6 days of projects organized by Azeb Worku Sibane, Vicky Shick, Daniel Seiple, Sheree Rose, Radhika Subramaniam, and Shelly Silver".

David Byrne + Creative Time · Water In Milk Exists · Pass The Dutchie

1. This time he's playing the building, not burning down the house. David Byrne has teamed up with Creative Time to bring us Playing The Building.

2. Finally, after all these years, text artist Lawrence Weiner is finally getting some respect.

3. I don't know about you all, but my brain doesn't want to kick in today and I'm a little grumpy to say the very least. This totally made me happy though. Nothing like a little nostalgia to get the juices flowing.

Ten Songs Ju$t For You

Last week I asked what you want more of and you responded: more music and more play lists.

So here you go. Ten of my current favorite songs for you to checkout. PS: the numbers are just numbers. I didn't put these in any order preference. I just liked numbered lists better than bulleted ones. It looks more official or something.

10. Chores (Animal Collective)
9... Shake A Fist (Hot Chip)
8... Take Pills (Panda Bear)
7... Pillar Of Salt (The Thermals)

Artichoke · Clinic · FLY

1. I finally walked by Artichoke (328 E. 14th Street) when the line was only 2 people long and not 20 people coming out of the door. I patiently waited as the next pizza finished cooking and as the pizza guy took his sweet ol' time putting fresh basil and parmasean on top.

2. Clinic's coming to town and playing Bowery Ballroom with BBQ on 05.31.08.

3. If you're not familiar with FLY, you're really missing out. In short, it's art meets fashion in DVD format. I just finished watching the videos from the latest issue and recommend it highly.

Olafur Eliasson's NYC Waterfalls · Phunk Studio + Levi's · Robber Baron @ Moss · The Long Weekend + Nan Goldin @ Tate Modern

1. This is why I love living in New York. New York City Waterfalls.

2. If you're in Paris, stop by the rue Etienne Marcel Levi's Flagship shop to checkout the solo show by :phunk studio, which will run from 30th May to 24th June 2008. The design collective out of Singapore created limited edition tees for Levi's S/S 08 collection and will take over the store in their dysfunctional apocalyptic style.

3. I try to stop by Moss (150 Greene Street) at least once a month. It really is equal parts museum and store. Unlike a museum, everything's for sale, but the quality is museum-like and the prices keep it well out of reach of most of us. On the block this month are some pieces you don't want to miss. Robber Baron (the complete Suite tales of power, corruption, art and industry, cast in bronze).

4. I love the Tate Modern. Maybe more than MoMA, but I'm pretty sure it's only because it's in London. If I lived in London, I'm sure I'd be saying the same thing in reverse. Coming this weekend: UBS Openings: The Long Weekend.

Nice Collective Sample Sale and Tee Giveaway · Islands · Wild Combination

1. For all you who missed the first this.hearts.on.fire. giveaway last week, I had a super hot checkered scarf from Nicholas K's SS08 collection to give to the 10th respondant. The winner: Amy Wenzel from 303 Gallery.

2. Have you heard of the Islands? Another hot indie band out of Montreal. (Seriously folks, what's up with Canada??) "In mid-2005 Islands recorded a debut album titled Return to the Sea. The album features numerous guest appearances, including members of Arcade Fire and Wolf Parade."

3. I love films about relatively obscure artists and musicians, who weren't so obscure to insiders and who have had a lasting influence despite their lack of mainstream recognition. Case in point: Arthur Russell. According to Wikipedia, "Russell has been cited as an influence on contemporary artists like The DFA and Hercules and Love Affair". Who knew?! There's a new indie film out documenting his life and work you need to checkout.

Patti Smith + Fondation Cartier · Bacaro · Black Mountain · DSM Market

1. If you're lucky enough to be in Paris on 06.07.08, stop by Fondation Cartier (261, Boulevard Raspail) at 8:30pm for an accoustic performance by one of my favorite rockers Patti Smith.

2. One thing that gets my goat: drinking wine anywhere, unless it's at home or there's an open bar. You pay $8 - 12 for a glass at most places and the amount they put in said glass is usually laughable. When a friend suggested we get wine last night, I had one requirement: we need to go somewhere with bang for buck.

3. Not only was the wine situation at Bacaro amazing, but the music they played was spot on. Sure, they played the new Portishead, but that's semi predictable. What I wasn't expecting: the latest (In The Future) from Black Mountain, who even in indie music circles aren't the most well-known band.

4. One of my most favorite stores in the world -- DOVER STREET MARKET -- is having a special two day sale on 05.25 and 05.26.08 from 10am - 7pm in the Phillips de Pury space (Howick Place Victoria London SW1) in London. The DOVER STREET MARKET Market.

Who Would You Rather Have As Your F-Buddy: Perez or ?!?

Perez Hilton does not like Sarah Jessica Parker. To quote a few recent posts: "Sarah Jessica Parker graces the cover of the new issue of Vogue. Poor thing! They couldn't do anything about her face?????????" and "Cheer up, horsey! SJPeePee was spotted leaving London's Wosley restaurant on Sunday."

This of course coming from a guy who weighs 300lbs and has the face in the pic to the right.

I just don't get it. Can't he do gossip without being mean? Can't he pick on people who are assholes? What's SJP done to anyone? Really!

It's clear he's not even in the same universe as anyone he talks about. (Okay he's more talented than Brooke Hogan, but she still kicked his ass in my poll.) I just think it's uncalled for. So the polls continue.

3. The Japanese are insane! Watch this video and you'll know what I mean. It's the perfect way to end the week.

4. If you've never heard of British comedian Catherine Tate, you need to see these videos ASAP. She's brilliant: Beyonce, Translator, Not Drunk Enough, and Billy Burger.

1. I thought the Bjork party in LIC thrown by Deitch might be a one off thing, but it seems like Deitch is trying to get us to make repeated trips to Deitch Studios LIC (4-40 44th Drive On The East River) whether we like it or not. Robert Therrien @ Gagosian · Thieves Like Us · Last Tango In Paris

1. Stop by Gagosian's collosal 24th street gallery to checkout the show currently on view by American artist Robert Therrien, which runs now through 06.14.08. "Therrien is known as an object maker who transforms elements from everyday life into works of art that evoke mythic archetypes. In 1993, Therrien made a significant breakthrough that influenced all his ensuing work. No Title (Yellow Table Leg) presented a dramatic shift from the less representational objects that preceded it. He found that by recreating everyday objects true to their original material and color, but on a greatly enlarged scale, the viewer's relationship to them changed dramatically."

2. If you're a fan of the late great Robert Altman, you'll definitely want to stop by Film Forum to see his 1974 take on the Bonnie and Clyde story called Thieves Like Us.

3. If you've never seen Bertolucci's Last Tango In Paris, do yourself a favor and go see it. "Post-sexual revolution Brief Encounter à Paris, as tormented widower Marlon Brando makes immediate contact with funky Maria Schneider in an empty apartment. Bernardo Bertolucci's succèss de scandale retains its impact today, keyed by Brando's powerful and most self-revelatory performance."

One of our favorite stores in the world--super cool Miami store BASE--has hooked up this.hearts.on.fire. once again with their Album Club Picks. 10. LP2 (LIFE PROJECT) / As part of an ongoing series of collaborations with artists from various disciplines--BASE presents LIFE PROJECT LP2, the sophomore effort from two exceptionally gifted musicians, Angie Giles and Patrick Giles, aka HIRO?--DJ, producer, and composer extraordinaire.

1. It's official: after months of wanting and waiting, I took some time away from my weekend to RSS 2.0 the site!! All you feeders, click here to get the latest and greatest via Live Bookmarks, Bloglines, My Yahoo, and Google.

2. It's not the Cannes you're thinking of! It's London's Cans Festival, which began on Saturday and ends today. Rules: no hand painting. It's a stencil-only event. And no going over another artist's work.

3. Guess who's coming to Terminal 5? Alison Moyet and Vince Clarke aka Yaz. "Yaz was a short-lived but quite successful synth-dance duo from the early '80s. Comprised of synthesizer player Vince Clarke and singer Alison Moyet, the group formed in 1981, after Clarke left Depeche Mode (Clarke had penned almost all of Depeche Mode's debut album, Speak & Spell), and Moyet had recently exited an obscure R&B cover band, the Screaming Abdabs."

The Wild Thing: Perez Hilton or ?!?

I'd like to continue on with our weekly poll where I pit Perez Hilton against one of the people he frequently trashes. If you've been playing along, you'll know that it's been pretty easy up until this point. Last week, I stepped it up a bit, but you all voted and I was wrong: Brooke Hogan crushed P-Nasty. Phillips Contemporary Art Part 1 · Gert & Uwe Tobias @ Team · Artichoke

1. In case you missed Saturday@Phillips (and if you have $50,000 to 1,000,000+ to work with), you'll definitely want to checkout the Contemporary Art Part 1 auction at Phillips de Pury. I'm obsessed with art auctions right now, even though I can barely afford to buy a catalog.
