Coachella 2010 Line Up Announced

It’s official: the lineup for Coachella 2010 is out.
While we love Jay-Z, we’re not so sure we like the potential underlying implications of someone so mainstream playing Coachella, which has up until now — even with the big headliners they’ve had — remained indie at heart. Given the rest of the lineup, though, we don’t think this signals a shift, just a blip on the radar.
Who are we excited about? The xx, of course, Vampire Weekend, P.i.L., Passion Pit, Erol Alkan, Grace Jones, LCD Soundsystem, MGMT, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Band of Skulls, Thome Yorke, Phoenix, Orbital, Gary Numan, Miike Snow, The Big Pink, Florence and The Machine, Plastikman, Delphic, and John Waters!

We love it when bands do this!
Vampire Weekend has posted all of the tracks from their just-released latest record Contra. We hope it’s still available tomorrow when this post goes live. If you click through, you’ll find an embedded player where you can listen to every track and follow by purchasing the record if you’re so inclined. It definitely exceeded our very high expectations. We love it.

In case you missed out post a while back, one of our favorite bands — Vampire Weekend — is set to release their latest record this month. It’s called Contra.
They started with a teaser free download of the first single Horchata, which we were a little hesitant to listen to. Given past experience with HUGE first record bands, we were worried it wouldn’t live up to our expectations. One listen and we knew this wasn’t the case. The song rocks! Download it from their site. Next up, they released a video for a track called Cousins on their site. Again, we love it.
This leads us to the release of Contra. It happens in the UK on 01.11.10 and in the US on 01.12.10. Click here for a track list and for links to pre-order sites.
