Heads up guys: there’s a new menswear line named Riviera Club that has just launched with a Spring/Summer 2010 collection.
The Southern California based casual/surfer line is just in time to ride the tidal wave of nouveau preppy that started in New York a year or so back and is quickly gaining momentum. As the skinny grey and black jeans fade into the horizon, an army of khakis can be seen rushing in. It’s just a matter of time — kinda right around Spring 2010 if you ask me — before nouveau preppy morphs into nouveau preppy/surf.
Resolutely inspired by vintage California, Riviera Club creates eminently wearable clothing for the casual male. Influenced by the unmistakable aura of West Coast coolness, the collection is timeless and classic; and with a price point that won’t break the bank.
With its debut collection, Riviera Club toasts the legend of Bunker Spreckels, surfing’s “Divine Prince of Decadence,†who at the age of 21 inherited a vast family fortune. Traveling the world with a hired photographer and a surfboard, he lived a life of spontaneous extravagance and style, until his unexpected and mysterious death at the age of 27.
Riviera Club relives Bunker’s times and travels through the detailing of their Spring/Summer 2010 collection.
