“PYRITE draws inspiration from the natural mineral itself, which is usually found in cubic crystal formations and clusters. Motivated by how a natural mineral can repel against nature and form, into what appears like “man-made” cubic crystals, led to the exploration of “opposition” in natural fibers. This concept was applied to the fabrication of this collection, by repelling against the cloths natural properties and the way in which it would naturally drape and fall. This “opposition” created pyrite-like cubic structures in the shape and form of the individual garments, which allude to be standing by themselves and protrude from the body.”

I LOVE Australian line Bassike.
This collection is one of my favorites so far: the mix of sporty, minimal, and wearable, but not casual is one that’s not easy to achieve. Moreover, the pieces and looks are casual enough so you won’t stick out if you wear it around town during the day and easily transfers to cooler, fancier settings taking on a different look and feel dependent on the surroundings. Extremely cool, extremely versatile, and extremely wearable. It’s a win win win.

Australian menswear line Song for the Mute not only consistently delivers amazing collections, but knows that in addition to the clothes, it’s important to keep a tight visual aesthetic for the look book images. Check out images from the Spring/Summer 14 collection after the click. (more…)
